Default Martin Marquis strings question

Has anybody here tried, or play the Martin Marquis strings? I was wondering if the additional thread winding causes any fit issues. I have read a few complaints that the fit is tight in the bridge holes due to the thread winding.

If your bridge pins are snug already, the low E and A strings can be tight for sure.

I use ebony bridge pins and have already had to file them for a good fit, so I usually don't have too much trouble on most of my guitars with the Marquis strings, but with plastic bridge pins, I can foresee fitment issues.

I used to use Martin Marquis strings, and never had a problem with it. For me the solution for that was to just put the strings in a little deeper than I would with other brands of strings that didn't have the wrap. If you do that, and make sure the pin is positioned properly, as you bring up the tension on the string it'll wedge itself in between the pin and the bridgeplate just fine.

So just make sure that you put the string in about a half inch further than you normally would, and then keep one palm on the bridge pin as you tighten the tuner for the string with your other hand. The pin might want to pop loose as you bring up the tension, but don't let it.

Hope that makes sense.

I used to use them regularly, back in the days before coated strings. Like Wade says, pins popping out during restringing was the only thing to watch for.
