Default Shelley speaks!

My new build, Shelley, is a perfect example of Tort Reform. Here she plays 'Shakey Proposition' in open D tuning, capo 2, played through a Fender Princeton Reverb w/JBL D123 & a Fishman Loudbox Performer.

I merely laid the Shure MV88 on the rug between the amps, hit record, and played.

Yeah, it's a little red lined, but so what.......

Atmospheric! And that guitar is so pretty it's painful to look at (for someone who sold off all his electrics and has sworn to not replace them).

Yes, that little piece was fine sounding.

I'm enough of a joker to think that I'd want a, oh, I dunno, a woodgrain pickguard on it. No one would get the joke of course.

It may be just the angle, but what are the pickups in it? Looks like super tall magnet slugs.

Hi Frank,
Someone on FB suggested the wood pickguard already.

I ignored him too:-)

The pickups are DeArmond Dynasonics, and they are very tall magnets, and too strong as far as I'm concerned. It's a later iteration of the pickup, so I may just take it out and replace it with an older one I have. The older one has the shorter poles, but apparently the same exact spacing.

Best,
Howard

Hey Fran,
Good to see you out & about!

It's an acoustic players dream: Very light weight, and a boatneck V profile Warmoth neck with a 1.75" nut.

I'm mostly pleased with how my concept came out.

It did occur to me that it's almost been done once before: The Ted McCarty pickguard/pickup units that are found on many older deluxe Gibson archtops.

The poles are not adjustable, though. Mine being Dynasonics are adjustable.
