Guitars are made to be played, take that bad boy out and give it a life. It wants to be played you know.

Try one of these to hold your guitars in their cases:
String Swing I keep my major players on the stand in the cases, 3 steps away from me. I have D'Addario Humidtraks and paks in each case to monitor the RH in each case. It takes 10 seconds to take a guitar out of its case.

I 'm with you in terms of history and that leaves a long tail. However, play 'em and enjoy them. I'm a 'working musician' in that I play in an acoustic duo several times a month. However, I joke that I'll never break even, let alone make any profit given the very nice guitars and gear I have acquired over the past 10 years or so. All this to say, enjoy the ways that a good guitar feeds your soul and lightens your burdens. You can't put a price on that!

I'd say yes to keep it in the case, but not tucked away in the closet.
keep it where it's easy to pop the latches opened and crack the lid and take it out and play it. Do it every day if you can.
