I had one for a couple of days. Fantastic guitar, but the finish, to me, is a bit "overdone". Mine somehow morphed itself into a Gibson J45 (gotta love that GC return policy)

Gotta love it when a guitar morphs into a J45 . Welcome to the AGF!

I was surprised by how much I liked the sound of this guitar.

Here from the Music Villa review.

Thanks for posting this video. This tone is pretty accurate from what I remember playing one at GC the other day. I was not a fan of the tone, unfortunately, because the specs are there!

The guitar does not sound, at all, like one might imagine a rosewood back/sides with VTS aged adi top.

It has a strong mid-range, metallic to a fault, and very few overtones.

To me, it sounds like how a laminate back/sides guitar sounds.

I agree with Cybershot, I was surprised at how much I disliked the sound of the 16 Streetmaster. The one I tried at GC that day just sounded harsh. I did bring a tuner with me, and I tried several other guitars that day that sounded great. I tried the Streetmaster a second time but to me, it just sounded bad.

I agree it has a strong midrange, it's not bass heavy, but mine is very articulate, every single note pops out. I'm using Martin retro strings. I mean.. I really don't think it sounds anything like a laminate guitar.

It all comes down to what you are looking for, if you want a guitar with a flat, accurate response, and loud, this is in that category. It's as loud as my dreads.

If you are looking for layers of luscious sound, that's not this one.

That being said, there are many songs/styles that sound great with the flat tone that this guitar produces.

Bottom line is.... it's definitely not my only guitar, but it does do things that are equivalent in their own way to my high end guitars, and for a much lower price point.

I checked out the 000-16 and similar 000-17 and DSS-17. I found them responsive but too harsh for my tastes. But a friend at jam played a DSS-17 that sounded great.

I have three nice Martins. But if I only had $1600 to spend, I’d probably come home with an Eastman. Or maybe a 000-15SM.

True. And this is not the sign of a great guitar.
