I received the Lowden email on it. "... only eight are available to buy". I'm guessing the cost is out of my range by a factor of many but I'd love to try one.

Hi Merlin,
All of the appointments are made from Bushmills Cask oak. As we were cutting this wood in the saw, the whiskey was quite literally dripping out of it. The entire workshop smelt like Bushmills. It was incredible!! The guitars themselves smell great but I suspect that the hint of whiskey is lost to the rest of the wood and lacquer. |

So when we cut it we take the dry half and work with that piece. It still smells incredible though! |

Its quite interesting to see oak featured as a tonewood, frankly the first time I have heard about it. Reading up a bit on this it seems that oak was quite common among Stella guitars, and large pores may be an issue with it. Did the use in casks affect the pore size and other features of the wood?

Lowdens are nice guitars, but I wouldn't go for the Bushmills hype.
