Brand new Avalon Pioneer L2-20 jumbo acoustic guitar hand crafted by Avalon Custom Lutherie in Northern Ireland. All solid woods; Sitka spruce top with East Indian rosewood back and sides. Bindings are solid Sycamore, as is the center strip of the neck, the rest of which is mahogany. Bridge and fingerboard are ebony, as are the buttons on the premium grade Gotoh tuners. Comes with a high quality Hiscox case, made in England.

The combination of Indian Rosewood and Sitka spruce soundboard give this guitar a strong rich deep tone with punchy trebles. This pairing of woods makes for a guitar that is perfect for heavy strumming and flat-picking without compromising the lighter aspects of finger picking.

Avalon started out as Lowden Guitars, and became Avalon when George Lowden went his own way more than 10 years ago. Avalons are built in the same shop by several of the same luthiers that were building Lowden branded guitars back then. Avalons are equal if not better in build quality to Lowdens, and have the same clear as a bell - like sound and ease of play, with a somewhat different tone. The differences , to the extent you can detect them, may be due to the different bridge styles (Avalons use bridge pins vs Lowdens through - the - bridge (Taylor style) approach. Avalon also uses two different proprietary bracing patterns.
