NGD: La Petrie Concert mahogany and cedar
I realize that these are a bit overbuilt, but since I play folk and not classical music, it was a great deal on a solid wood guitar. The tone is really good on this guitar. I was able to trade in an instrument I no longer used and get this one for just a little over the trade in. I find the tone quite nice! I plan to lower the action just a bit, but overall very impressed. BTW, I did own a Cordoba and thought it was nice too, but I like the depth of sound a little better on the Last Petrie.

Nice! I have a Presentation. It came down between the Presentation and the Concert. I brought my wife, and i asked her which one she liked better, i thought for sure she would say the Concert because of the gloss finish, but she said the Presentation sounded better. My hearing is shot so I went with her recommendation, but aside from shiny I couldn't tell a difference.

Since we have a gathering of LaPatrie Concert owners here, I thought I'd ask a question. I don't play classical music either, mostly 60's era folk revival. I'm a fingerpicker, not a lot of strumming. My particular instrument has wonderful bass response regardless of whatever strings I try (and I've tried 6 or 7 different sets) but in all instances, the trebles seem a little dull. Any suggestions about trebles with a potentially brighter sound? I'm perfectly willing to split sets.

Savarez Alliance KF Carbon trebles that come in the HT Classic set. Or equivalent. They are thinner and if you like big round nylon strings, these may be uncomfortable. Nice clear trebles.

Hunter, thanks for this recommendation. I play 11's on my steel acoustics, so thin won't be an issue.

I owned a La Patrie Etude for a short while, and it was a really sweet toned guitar, but I had the same experience of rich bass tones, but less than satisfying trebles. I found that it really balanced out very well with carbon trebles though.
Savarez Alliance HTs were a great improvement for me, and Oasis GPX HTs were maybe even a bit more so...

I like LaPatrie guitars. I spent many years playing a "collection" model when I was a student. Later when I became a teacher I sold it to one of my own guitar students and I sort of regretted it! It had a wonderful tone! The only thing I didn't like was the neck was a bit too thin for my taste and the trebles maybe a bit on the weak side compared to the excellent bass.
