I sort of like that idea but I wish they had not left that ugly bolt showing on the back. I know I'm just being picky but that's me.

The fact that it's made to be played with .11's makes me wonder about it's acoustic tone. It could be a guitar that's made to be plugged in most of the time, like the new 16 series guitars. For that we will have to wait and see.

It's a Road Series, so it will be a relatively inexpensive guitar. Has anyone seen a price to it?
The GP body is new and I'm sure a few others.

I thought the same. Maybe they don't count that because they copied it from Taylor.

The ‘02 Martin “Custom-D” I had also was a bolt on neck, so it’s not exactly a new thing from Martin.
I’d like to play one.

Completely different type of bolt-on with this model, however. There's a pic on Martin's website that shows the back up close, and it def resembles a bolt-on electric neck, as opposed to the standard acoustic bolt-on coming from the neck block into the neck.

Me too Jim. From Spoon's politically correct (understandably) comments, I don't think she's gonna have the growl and depth we expect from a Martin. I think they're totally going for plugged-in tone and playability on this one.

Said $1499 in the articles that have filtered out so far. Sounds more right given the make-up of it.

Jim was referencing the price on Martin's website, which is $1899. $1499 is prob street. Which is too high, IMO, for a laminated guitar, no matter the bells and whistles.

I love the cutaways by the heel allowing much better high-fret access. I'd like to learn more about their "new sure align" neck design.

But the "road series" designation is a big turnoff for me......

Yeah....it;s almost so uniquely it's own thing, it should have gotten it's own series and numbering system to not associate it with things some see as inferior or lower grade.

It's interesting to me that they'd veneer it with fancy woods if the actual box is made solid otherwise because (as we've seen in comments above) there are a lot of folks who devalue it immediately when they hear "laminate".

It's cool innovation and basically a hot combo of things that aren't very "Martin-ish" which kinda works. I actually think that due to the unique shape and other features, the Martin headstock looks super out of place.
