After I asked whether the coins glued to the top were Swiss francs or Euro coins, Brian replied:

Well, good luck getting that price for it!

Thanks for the clarification, Brian. I did encounter Euro coins on my last trip to Europe, but have yet to visit Switzerland. I couldn’t discern which coins were which, given the low quality of focus and resolution in that photo.

My M32 just cried out in pain.

Here's what it's supposed to look like (roughly). Posting the pic to hopefully remove some of the bad juju in the air from what that person did to his Lakewood...

I'll bet it has that widely sought-after "wet cardboard" tone that's so elusive.

Can’t imagine what that person was thinking as they were procuring the necessary materials and beginning the “modifications”.

If it were my guitar, I’d be crying tears of regret into the pillow of remorse.

I would be too ashamed to try to sell it, let alone for the asking price noted!

So, you're saying this is Poop Art?

That's a common nightmare for luthiers and repair techs that have to deal with these massive screwups (if they accept the work) or the irate, self-deluding owners (if they don't.)

Aside from all that, Mouks, what are the denomination of those coins? I'm curious. Are they subdivisions of Swiss francs or Euros?

As for the delightfully earthy "poop-like paint job," would that be Swiss-German poop, or French, Italian, or Romansh poop?

I've been told that experts can tell the difference at a glance...

As Brian said, mostly Swiss coins, they look like this:

Beautiful guitar! I hope sharing this didn't do any harm to Lakewood. I think these people would feel really bad if they saw what happened to their work.

Looks like a Swiss banker overdosed on Toblerone.

Default Hiding one sin with another.

Looks like a bad effort to cover a top crack and possible lifting bridge.

Relic'ed. It's worth a lot more now.

Anyone else wondering if we're being played? Like, look around the bridge-- what is that build-up? Could someone have taken some sort of paper and decorated it, then set it on top of the guitar and taken a picture?

I mean, don't get me wrong: Especially after watching the news these last few years I will never again over-estimate the intelligence of my fellow citizens, but I smell something fishy here.
