Default July 4 / Canada Day plans?

What are your plans for July 4th or July 1st? Looks like there are no activities here this year for the first time, although I heard there's something virtual going on but I'm not interested in that.

Here in Nova Scotia the provincial border is still closed to every other province so even family members who live 5 minutes away in NB can't come together.

What are your plans?

I plan on spending it on my patio in my backyard, sitting by the fire pit underneath the stars. There's a hillside in my back yard where the fireflies like to illuminate this time of year, the top of which levels out and affords a magnificent view. You can see beyond the rooftops in my neighborhood for a distance of at least 10 miles. Once a month I lug my lawnmower up there and trim the overgrowth down and enjoy the view. I'd love to built some steps to make it an easier affair, as well as laying some pavers so that I can sit up there as well.

Our small family is functioning under a “trusted family group” where we all commit to practicing appropriate personal safety protocols wherever we may be with the benefit that we can interact unencumbered with each other. Our kids and grandkids will coming to our place for a bbq and swim, with a toast to our great country, Canada. It’ll be fun!

Hope you enjoy your Canada Day, Dru! Hope our American cousins enjoy your 4th of July as well, as best you can while being safe!

We don't have definite plans. The wife is from Toronto, so we'll have flags out on both days. She introduced me to the rye and ginger from Canada. Probably have that on the 1st. BBQ on the 4th. Or visa versa. We'll celebrate both.
Happy 1st and 4th to everyone!

A bike ride, the driving range and some guitar playing.

I usually watch a little baseball, but...

Hope everybody stays safe.

Like we did on New Year's Eve, we're going to turn my buddy's front yard into a war zone with fireworks. St. Augustine isn't holding a fireworks show this year, and Jacksonville is too far to drive.

Not a lot here. I’ll miss the annual Classic Car show, which is one of my favourite photo opportunities each year.

The city is still doing fireworks, but no public gatherings to watch them. Instead, they’ve increased the charges so that they’ll burst much higher than usual to give lots more people the opportunity to watch the show from a distance - which I think is pretty cool.

You'll have to introduce her to some Tennessee or Kentucky bourbon whiskey on the 4th! My favorites.

Weather permitting, on the 3rd and 4th I will be busking (unamplified, per local ordinances) on the waterfront in Newburyport, Mass.
Better than not doing anything!

Everything local is canceled, so I suppose I'll be watching fireworks on TV.

Hey Dru, good choices. But the wife drinks more of a Scotch whiskey.
The only thing I introduced her to was tequila. Boy, do we sound like a mess.
