No reason to get nasty. My post was intended to be light-hearted. That's the reason there were smileys in most of my posts.

Is there a rule stating official forum policy regarding when NGD posts can be made and when they’re inappropriate?
No there isn't. Obviously you don't know what a tongue-in-cheek post is.

There were implied smiles in mine as I was quoting/abusing a line from Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid. And there are no rules, written or unwritten. Light hearted of course.

Helps if you actually put a . I remember the "no rules" but don't remember the line "Get a life". I guess I need to watch the movie again.

"Smilies? We don't need no stinkin' smilies!"

That line was from The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, a movie about prospectors going to Mexico looking for tonewood.

I think it's been quoted a lot. I'm not even sure that's the exact quote, but I'm pretty sure the novel was the origin, then made famous by the movie.

Fun fact: There is a limit of 15 smilies per post. I have been hampered by this occasionally.

Just seems like more of the "let's close the thread", I'll interpret the rules if you let me type posts I've seen you make.

I'm sure I have that all wrong.

Any others you can think of?
Well I took your OP as light hearted and poked fun at it light heartedly

Listed the NGDA "Anticipation" acronym as one, and here is another

NGS "New Guitar Someday" which for me would be :

G&L Fullerton Deluxe Comanche

OK, staying with the light-hearted vein...

Is there an acronym for when you order a custom build?

I have been working on something with a luthier, and it is a pretty exciting time!

Of course, there are no pictures now.

I don't know about anyone else, but my rule of thumb is I wait till I have the instrument in my hands.....That's just how approach it, how someone else wants to go about it,,,well that's up to them.
