Team Sports Names that may change?
What are some sports team names that you think may change given the current environment? Do you think the Washington Redskins will change? I think they will.
Stay away from reasons why ... what teams do you think are considering a change to their name, mascot, chant, logo? Do you think they'll announce it in the next 12 months? |

Old: The Washington Redskins
New: The DC Comics. On the endangered list: Kansas City Chiefs Atlanta Braves Cleveland Indians. Golden State Warriors. Chicago Blackhawks Chicago White Sox Boston Red Sox Detroit Red Wings And I predict the new names will have to pass a very severe sensitivity sniff test by a newly selected watchdog panel of official overseers. Assuming that is, that anyone will still be watching professional sports any more by that time.

I’d personally like to see the Runnin’ Utes (for Uintah Indians) of U. Of Utah change their name.
When will here things happen? When the schools and organizations come to believe it is in their best (financial) interests to make a change. Some will happen in the next year. More than have happened in the previous year. What I’d really like to see is changes in how people treat other people...the names and stereotypes are more a symptom than a serious concern. The serious concerns are the many ways that people are insensitive to other cultures, other people, other viewpoints....insisting that other cultures and people are being over sensitive when they object to the ways they are depicted, stereotyped, and treats.
