What to do with wood shorts?
Don't know if this has been covered on another thread, if so someone let me know.
I have been rough cutting and milling up B&S, small parts, necks for wood I've sourced from local hardwood yard (Crosscut Hardwoods-Seattle.) This results in pieces too short for another B&S set but maybe for guitar small parts but excess to the # of back and side yields. Reasons for this, cut around defect, layout considerations, length of available stock, whatever. What to do with some of the left over wood. One of things I found to use it for it building cigar humidors, they seem to have some things in common with a guitar. Made from great looking wood, looks a huge factor in their appeal but both requiring a specific function to be worth a dam. Wound be interested in see what others have done with their left overs if anything. A few pics...

Very nice boxes there. Most of my off cuts go into the mice I make.

Thanks, mice are nice.
Liked the Mercedes seat thing, I still have the rear seats out of my 560SEC after replacing the shocks(great you have to pull the frick'in seats to replace the shocks, superior German engineering I guess) maybe I should move then inside the house and copy your setup, might get more use out of them. I use leftover wood as inlays, bridge plates, backs and sides of small instruments (piccolo guitar or uke), bindings, guitar/banjo bridges, fretboards, and backing blocks to stop drills blowing out wood.

Smaller versions of those cigar boxes would make for some very nice flute cases.

Thanks for the suggestions, would be a no on the wood shorts, and a maybe on the flute case, but in reality another no.
Checked out the flute case thing online and found out like most things these days someone else is doing it and far, far better than I could at this stage in the game. I've got to become more single minded if I'm ever going to progress from a woodworker to an instrument maker, still a ways to go. The cigar humidors were just a neat thing to try to build with wood I didn't have a current need/use for. I need to find some way to get rid of them after I finish all them, they're taking up shop space.
