Help identify the tonewood
Bought this is granada spain around 2005. It wasn’t an overly expensive guitar, maybe 5 or 600 euros at the time.
Would love to know what woods are used here. https://imgur.com/gallery/GhXXegN Last edited by Alsippi89; 05-10-2020 at 09:34 PM. Reason: Picture not showing up |

For that price, would you expect any of it to be solid wood? I didn’t know anything about guitars back then.
How could I check? |

For that price I'd expect it to be all solid in 2005. What's the brand/label info?
Edit: now that I've seen the images, I think the back must be laminated. That's not necessarily a bad thing, a guitar made by a good maker can probably perform as well or better with laminated back than with solid back pieces. Really nice looking instrument!

Here you go. Alsippi... it looks like you put the page address in between the image tags and that won't work. If you'll go back to the pics and copy each image location, then put that address between the image tags, it'll work. PM me if you need assistance. Here are some directions that might help in the future. Enjoy the AGF!

Don’t have the guitar with me right now, but fairly certain it’s Antonio Morales. Was purchased on the street with all the guitar shops in Granada, Cuesta de Gomerez. |

The grain pattern of the back through the soundhole doesn’t match the grain pattern from the outside. That is a clue that it’s laminated.

Makes sense. Thanks!
More of a sentimental purchase than anything... it will always remind me of the trip when I bought it. Laminated or not, it makes me happy! Last edited by Alsippi89; 05-11-2020 at 10:25 PM. Reason: Spelling |

The top will almost certainly be solid, you could probably tell by looking at the edge around the soundhole. And a lot of people think a student/studio level guitar like this with laminated back and sides is better - more stable, consistent, whatever - than an all solid instrument. Don't forget to play it whenever you find the time!
