Default Airline travel option for Enya x4 pro

I have spoken on several threads that I am a huge fan of the Enya x4 pro.

For my current trip I am travelling to a warm climate and will be leaving stuff in my car a lot.

There is some risk of things getting stolen or over heated as a result I don't want to take my Limited Edition Furch Little Jane.

I have liked the transportability of my Klos Dreadnaught but haven't quite liked the tone or string spacing as to where I have my Enya these days. Part of the attraction with the Klos is the gig bag they have. It's awesome allowing you to demount the neck for the plane and then have a full size regular gig bag with the guitar fully strung up ready to go when you move around at your destination.

I had an idea the other day knowing that Klos has just come out with their new Cutaway Grand Acoustic. Turns out dimensionally it is very similar to the x4 pro.

I bought the bag and sure enough both the neck and body fit just fine in it. Here is a picture with the Enya ready to go next to my Furch bag. The Furch is clearly smaller but I have no doubt it can get this in on the plane and it may even be able to get under the seat.

Demounting the neck took 5 mins and one 5mm Allen wrench. I also used the Klos transport capo to hold the strings in the nut during transport to keep things more organized. Anyway, this looks to be a great demountable option for plane travel without much compromise in tone when you get there.IMG_20240205_170730690.jpg

Oh and there is a really large laptop compartment along with some handy pockets.

Really cool, thanks for this writeup! Any chance you could post a picture of how the neck detaches?

A great idea. When packed up how does the thickness of the two bags compare? I've been able to get my LJ under the seat on some airplanes, but not others.

Safe travels...

Safe travels...
When both have empty outer compartments the Enya in the Klos bag is surprisingly close to the Furch bag in depth. (Although I think a touch higher) Obviously not in the other two dimensions.

The Klos bag has less thick padding than the Furch so even though the body is thicker it looks to even out.

Updates with more photos on assembly. Overall it fit very nicely into the overhead and did not get any comments from the flight attendants.

Upon arrival I popped out the bolts and the tools for reassembly setting on a table.

Then unfolded the bag to normal size.

Pulled the neck out from the neck sleeve sliding it back through the zipper where the strings lead to the main body to get it back inline with the main bag.

I then placed the neck on the body roughly in position and finger tightened the two neck bolts through the sound hole.

I then used the Allen wrench to tighten the rest of the way. Note I like this one with a longer shaft length and ball end and smaller t handle style better than a regular Allen wrench as it seemed to work better to allow me to get the angles I need to tighten within the body.

After that I used my string winder to tighten up close to pitch. Popped off the Klos travel capo which works great for keeping the lose strings under control.

Then tuned the rest of the way and enjoyed a lovely session playing on the lanai listening to the ocean.

I have to say the sound was great as and it seemed to handle the travel this way no problem. Was also super easy to carry as a backpack throughout the airport etc. Best yet I've had from any collapsible travel option as well as enjoying the playability. I really feel like this has almost no compromises for having a guitar I really like after plane travel.IMG_20240207_082424866_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_082458233_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_082702368_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_082801297_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_082852332.jpgIMG_20240207_082842030_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_083020964_HDR.jpgIMG_20240207_083423216~2.jpg

Where's the margarita?

Thanks for the pics. Enjoy the sun. Looks so much nicer than 40F and rain.

No margarita yet but I can say the Klos bag also comes with a convenient pocket that holds a normal size bottle of wine easily

Perfect! Now get yourself a couple of carbon fiber wine glasses and you'll be all set.
