Default NGD-Taylor 214ceDLX, one of a kind anomaly

I stopped into my local GC yesterday to browse the acoustic selection again. I’m starting a new acoustic duo and needed something to perform live with that. I played the 214 deluxe and really liked it but noticed that the fret markers were dots instead of the normal diamonds on the deluxe models. I had a 210 deluxe previously so pretty familiar. I called Taylor CS on the spot and talked to a nice gentleman. He did some quick research and said well, that one must have slipped by in the factory with a regular 200 series neck. I confirmed that the markers are the only difference, same wood, etc. he said if I liked that particular guitar they would gladly swap out the neck.

So, I bought it. I have no intentions of replacing the neck, I actually like it like that! To me it’s cool that it’s different and I prefer the understated look for the most part. It plays and sounds great. It has a thicker neck than my 200 deluxe did, I could never bond with that. I like some chunk there! Maybe that’s normal to the GA models? I don’t know. Anyway, what do you folks think?

I think you're a happy camper! I also think we need pictures!
Congrats!

I realize to some this is a minor difference and others may not even notice. Also some may not want it at all. I guess it’s sort of a defect in a way but of course doesn’t affect the performance, obviously. I just think it’s cool that it’s a little different even though it’s technically a downgrade from how it’s supposed to be.

If you like it that way, that's all that matters.
If you want others' opinions, I guess I'd rather get all the upgrades, if I were paying for them. But, it's all about what you like.
Thanks for the nice pic, and congrats again!

Thanks! Yeah, I understand this may not be good for resale value but I plan to keep it for a while😊

Are you sure it is not a 214ce PLUS? They are making those now and are pretty close to a DLX.

I saw those and good call but no it is not. The tag inside says 214ceDLX. I’m not sure if you can actually get the plus version yet? I don’t think I’ve seen any of the online retailers with them in stock. Mine is a 2019 model also.

Looks like a DLX, it has a single ring rosette. Cool! Keep it!
