I have got the L00 neck ready to receive the fingerboard (also made) and then tomorrow I expect to shape it. Rob has asked for a slightly different specifications than my norm, and I will have to pay attention.
Here is the still rectilinear head from the side with the head plates and their underlayments: |

Rob's L00 neck is completed, and today I put the sealer and the first coat of oil varnish on the guitar. Although it means an extra coat of two ov varnish (2 or 3 hours each) I have chosen not to use pore filler as the pernambuco can't use it, and the look of the mahogany would diverge too much from the body.
My finish room lighting is far from ideal for photography, but I think you will get a sense of the beauty that is developing. |

Beautiful it is Bruce, the gorgeous woods are really coming to life. Love the soft cutaway and camatillo binding/rosette as well

Following up on the lonely shot of the neck in process, here it is with its third of a projected 8 coats of oil varnish:

Even shinier today! I just applied the 7th, and penultimate, coat of varnish. This takes up about 3 hours of my day, not enough to validate me, so I have started another guitar.
This one will be a Schoenberg "Standard", which I call as ES-000. That means it will be a Martin inspired 12 fret long scale 000 with a cutaway. Not my first such by quite a few. This one will be Bosnian maple topped my Swiss "Moon Spruce", one of the sets I picked up in Cremona when I was there a couple of years ago. This will be very white until I get to finish, and then it won't be. |

I watched him go through a whole lot of maple before grabbing that set - can’t wait to see this come together!!! (Wish I’d grabbed a set too!)

The Swiss top seemed like a good idea, but it didn't survive my attempting to install a rosette while peaking on a head cold. The Tom Thiel sourced Adi top is doing much better, as is my cold. Coincidence? I don't think so.
Today I buffed out the now cured body of CigarFan's Cuban mahogany FT-0C. On schedule for a B.I.G. delivery. |
