Here’s some looks at the inlay work.

Here Steve is carefully sawing out the 12th fret inlay from a mother of pearl blank.

And then the whole composition.

Head to the routing stone.

A look at what’s left behind.

And the overall peghead. This is a modified torch that Jeff designed from an existing pattern that we’ve used before. Just subtle changes, but enough to make it personal.

Thanks for following.

I continue to marvel at the amount of patience and the level of craftsmanship you guys have.

That headstock inlay and 12th fret are fantastic--great job!

That looks fantastic, my next Kinnaird is going to have to have that torch if Jeff will allow me permission to copy it. It looks fantastic

Thank you all for the very kind words. It's been a lot of fun so far, and Jeff has been fantastic to work with. My only regret is not buying 4 or 5 more sets of this beautiful ebony. Ah well...

Steve

Some more neck shots while the finish is being applied.

Laying out a K for the back of the headstock.

Covered up in glue.

All shined up.

And a Gold EVO fretted neck. This will match the to be revealed tuners!

Thanks for watching.

Some final neck shots before lacquer:

A little scraper work.

Using a contour gauge to check how the shape is progressing.

And then a little color to help the neck match the body.

Thanks!

It is definitely growing on me...I have always read with a bit of amusement when people are waiting (and seeing!) their guitars being built and the anxious feelings fueled by the awesome craftmanship and beauty of the creation are unfolding...well, I feel it now!!

Is it similar to a drum roll? Albeit a very loooong one? I'm glad it's growing on you. That is the drum roll for the luthier!
