Do you have a favorite?
As a relative beginner I have suffered from GAS pretty badly. I have lots of very nice high end guitars. But I also have some real bargains too.
I bought a spruce Martin D. Jr. when they first came out. Sent it off for a very cool "D-28 ish" refinish, Waverlys, pins, bone nut and saddle, K and K,etc. I basically hot rodded a D Jr. into a mock D-28. I am a very small person and it fits me great and has amazing tone. But the problem is it is the only guitar I have touched for 6 months. I love this guitar. I have lots of lonely expensive guitars that i do not plan on selling but it just feels weird to not be playing them. On the upside, if the world goes to hell and I need to sell my guitars I know I can live with just one and be happy. (God forbid, lol) Thoughts? |

My Blueridge BR-163. The OM body size is just right and the combination of spruce over rosewood sounds fabulous. My dread gets very little playtime. The little Yamaha is also an OM size and I play it just on the ward where I work for an hour on Wednesday afternoons.

As of now it is my Furch D-34SR
It is Everthing I can want in a guitar. It would be a toss up if my Furch D25 had an 1 11/16 nut, but the 1 3/4 nut is proving to be an issue. To bad, it sounds amazing.

If I had a bunch of nice guitars and I wasn’t playing them, that wouldn’t feel right to me. Lot of times I wish I was a pro musician so I can justify having many cool guitars as tools of my trade. But I’m just a hobbyist and right now I have 2 nice guitars (D18 and D21) to indulge in and trying to shed one modest guitar I had prior to these two. I don’t want it to just sit around. At my level of playing, I don’t know what I would do with more than 2 guitars. Well, maybe one more but I don’t see myself gassing too much. |

I've got two.
A Samick Greg Bennet Royale semi that my wife bought me, my first real guitar and a forever keeper. (Plays beautifully and sounds great but I just don't get inspired to play it all that much these days). And there's my Fender Stratocaster in sea foam green which is a forever keeper also. (Get warm and fuzzy just taking it out of its case and looking at it). If I was to be pushed into owning just two guitars (please no) then it would be my Martin dreadnought (my one and only acoustic) and my Fender Telecaster (my go to electric) complete with Bigsby. |

Built for me by my nephew-in-law.
Alpine Spruce/Rosewood. Mahogany neck. 16 1/2" lower bout 5" body depth. (very close to the Taylor Grand Orchestra specs - the GO has the same depth but is just 1/4" wider) Very responsive, powerful and loud.

the world is already going to hell.
you have to make a choice. either keep them and play them, or, sell them to someone who will. i know it is hard to make the choice, but, you've asked. play music!

I hate unplayed guitars. Sure I understand folks who need a variety of guitars for various playing styles. And folks who like to collect them as much as play them. To each his/her own. But I don’t gig. And I don’t collect. So when I had as many as seven guitars - most of which quickly became case queens - it really bugged me.
So now I’m down to two guitars...and my strict one-in-one-out policy keeps me at this level. Both guitars are tuned up and played every day. Pretty much getting equal time during my morning two hour practice time. But do I have a favorite? Well, love them both...but when it’s time to just grab one and have some fun it’s my Martin D-41 that lands in my lap. And why not...this beauty is a stone cold lifer.

There is probably no "right" answer but, doing what is right for you (OP) is what is most important.
For a number of years I had multiple guitars, sometimes as many as seven. I would buy, sell, swap, reduce, and then add again. Eventually, I had enough and sold all but, one. I enjoy having one guitar. My guitar playing life is simpler. However, that might not be for you. Take your time...the answer that is best for you will eventually surface. Good luck!

My J-45 is my favorite when I'm playing in standard tuning.
