A guitar that really resonates with me (NGD)
National NRP B Series 2018 model resonator. Picked it up from a Fedex drop-off site today, tuned it up to G and played for a few minutes. I was bummed I didn't get it yesterday due to Fedex being lazy, but it's here now. I bought it from the good folks at Artisan Guitars in Tennessee.
I've played a few resonators and have liked most of them, but it was the NRP from National that really hit the spot for me. I think this one was made from an old 1950s washing machine they found out in someone's yard in 29 Palms. Not really, that was a joke. I love the wide neck (1.82). The action is perfect for picking and slide. There's not a flaw anywhere. It's simply immaculate and it sounds just as good as the 12-fret NRP I played that made me decide to buy one of these. I bought this one because it had 14 frets: I like sliding down to the 15th, which is hard to do on a 12-fret. It also came with a pickup in it so I can put some dirt on it and play through my Marshal. Man, it's going to sound truly raunchy. |

I like the sound of those in certain cases but something in my brain finds that tinny sound irritating and I think playing one would "grate" on me.

As to the guitar, I have been toying with a lap steel. That's more up my "sound" street. Pedal steel would be even better but they take a lot longer to learn to play proficiently. Last edited by Kerbie; 04-27-2018 at 09:42 PM. Reason: Edited quote |

Ever since I started playing slide/resos, I've always read that "there's nothing like a National." When I bought M2, I realized they were right. NRP is building the absolute best in the business, IMO.
Congrats on yours! |

It's called "chipped ivory." Only one I've seen anywhere with it. It literally looks like someone flattened out an old tub from an ancient washing machine to make it.

Yes, steel. Doesn't sound like a trashcan lid though like some I played.

Yes it does have that industrial look to it. Welcome to the Reso world, enjoy.
