Smoke smell...

Years ago I bought a hard rifle scabbard type case for a bolt action rifle.

Even before I opened the packaging I could smell cigarettes.

Washed the outside with dish soap thoroughly. Then baking soda and water mixture, soap again then Fabreeze.

Brought the stench down a little, but not enough.

Since it was a scabbard I had no way of getting to the lining inside at the bottom. Tried a sock with coffee grounds in it, then sock filled with baking soda. Then sock with cedar shavings in it, but still more than I could tolerate.

Eventually sold it to a friend who smoked.
