I own a Rainsong P12 which is a carbon fiber parlor. It's not the best sounding of my guitars, I think I'd give that to my 10 yr old OM18A right now, but it is definitely the toughest guitar I own. For me it's the perfect winter travel guitar. I'd wouldn't hesitate to strap it to a snowmachine and take it with me ice fishing if it was a sunny day in March. It's good to have a guitar that you don't have to worry about.

I love a good guitar bargain, but I've found it hard to find a parlor I like under $2K, I think because it takes the attention of a skilled luthier to coax a full, balanced sound out of so small an instrument. My Alvarez-Yairi PYM60HD/14 is among the best guitars (not just parlors) I've ever played.

I looked for a parlor guitar for a year. Bought a 2003 Larrivee O-01 Rosewood Special Edition parlor, but that particular one sounded dead on arrival and was quickly re-sold.

Bought a 2015 Eastman E20-P rosewood parlor, and it sounded good, but I do my finger and flat picking near the bridge and did not like the long space to the sound hole, which is a parlor characteristic. I felt limited by the 12 fret neck, the string spacing was a little wide for flat picking, and the body was almost the same width and height as my Eastman E20-OM which sounded better. So I sold the E20-P, too.

I found satisfaction with a Yamaha CSF3M, solid mahogany, light in weight, and 14 frets. It is a "compact" guitar with an OM-form body making a quality sound. I like it a lot for the couch or sitting in front of the computer. It is not to be compared to a downsized or travel guitar, of which I had gone through several.
