How to play licks like this?
Just wondering if anyone knows what kind of online lessons to take to be able to play like this?

Fingerstyle; arpeggios; jazz chords.
Some combination of those three topics. I don't know any suitable online lessons, because the way I'd learn those licks is to slow them down (maybe on youtube, but probably on Transcribe https://www.seventhstring.com/xscribe/screenshots.html) and learn them myself. But then I would understand enough about how the chords work to be able to adapt them and apply them elsewhere if I wanted.

What JonPR said... that guy's showing you most of it.
I've been slowing down Sunny Skies from an old James Taylor album, to help me comprehend what is going on... the harmonic stuff that guy does right at the beginning of the first song and right at the end of the last song seems kind of magic, though... -Mike |

Arpeggios where speed depends on practice and nice length and shape on fingernails if using fingernails.
Opening harmonic run seems to be:

There is an iPad app called AudioStretch that’s like the application JonPR mentions. What I like about AudioStretch is you can scrub through an audio or video clip one note at a time.
You can also slow down YouTube videos to .25x speed by clicking/taping the three dots icon and selecting Playback Speed. Last edited by latentaudio; 06-03-2020 at 04:54 AM. |
