Default Walking In Memphis

My version of Walking in Memphis. There's a small lyric goof-up and a weak chord change stuck in because, well, when that little red Record light goes on, weird things happen.

OK, this is good. Real good.

Most people who attempt this on solo acoustic tend to turn it into a Jimmy Buffett tune with an island feel, totally wrong for the song. They can't handle the repetition of the chord pattern don't know what to do and go for the low hanging fruit of the island vibe.

But the answer is dynamics properly applied, such as you've done here. Being a skilled guitarist with a good voice doesn't hurt either. This is a fine job, thanks for posting.

Thumbs up

Very nice job on a great song by a guy from my neck of the woods.
BTW, I have a brother in Hendersonville just up the road from you who is a musician as well.

Thanks for the kind words, all. I'm trying to imagine a Jimmy Buffet island version but it doesn't compute!

Glad you enjoyed it. I moved to Flat Rock two years ago and immediately jumped into the great local music scene, doing a lot of open mics and sing-arounds. I started gigging this summer, and though I don't know how earnestly I'll pursue that end of things, I am enjoying it. And who knows, I may have met your brother in my outings.

Oh, they're out there! I'll find a few on YouTube and send you the URLs. And they do cause cringing.

Really enjoyed this performance! Guitar......excellent.......vocals......you have a great voice!! The interpretation of the song was really nice! Very easy to listen to. I find that I "hear" the lyrics differently with your rendition........with the original version, they kind of float by me until the chorus. But with your treatment of the song, I found myself zooming in on the lyrics much more.
Great job!

You may have.
His name is Mike. He does a few gigs here and there alone and sometimes with my niece Tess, his daughter.
