Default Finally happy with a string set that matches my Collings OM1 - video clip included

I've jumped around from Martin SP, Lifespans, Monels, Daddario Phosphor Bronze, Daddario Nickel Bronze, Curt Mangan PB, extra lights, lights...and finally found a set that has a great balance of warmth, projection, clarity and feel..

John Pearse 600L phosphor bronze lights!

I've had this set on for about 2 weeks now, with daily playing and they still sound great. I know I may be late to the game but I would recommend these strings, particularly with the more mid dominant Collings voicing.

I had a few moments to spare this afternoon so I did a quick clip of an original song featuring my Collings and these strings. For those interested the Collings is an OM1ss with baked sitka top and pyramid bridge that I purchased new a few months ago and is starting to settle in nicely

Sounds GREAT! I have a set of mediums to go on my Sitka/Koa GS and this is making me want to change strings right now, even though the Elixirs on it are only a couple of weeks old.

Sounds like a great match for that guitar and your playing style I'll be curious to know how long they last you.

Sounds great Windsen! I like your technique because that's how I play.
I love the 01 you sold me. I'm so pleased with it. I take it to work everyday.
Hopefully rollin' out of this horribly hot state and back to civilization tomorrow.

sounds fantastic. you have a real light touch, which pairs superbly with a guitar like a Collings which is responsive and clear. very nice!

I have never tried Pearse strings, as I opt for coated strings, but this makes me want to give 'em a try!

cheers

Scott

Johnny, great to hear from you! I do miss the 01 but I'm glad it found such a great home. It has been ungodly hot this summer. Have a safe trip back home! Until next time...cheers

I am jumping around trying different string manufacturers...Can't resist good marketing! But ...I always come back to JP's..for the reasons you mention.
They don't have a long life...but they are priced very well and string changes are easy enough.

Thanks! I have a version of the song originally recorded with both acoustic (my previously owned vintage 00-18, which you may appreciate) and electric if you'd like to hear that version

Sounds good. I've been putting Elixir HD lights on my Collings, which is what Pete Hutlinger endorsed and used on his OM1. Might be worth a try if you find yourself again wanting to experiment.

Really enjoyed the piece with and without the telecaster. And you catch the simultaneous beauty and clarity of your Collings.

Sounds wonderful. I love Pearse strings on a Collings - it’s a perfect match.

If you have another experiment in you, put a set os Santa Cruz low or mid tensions on it. You might be pleasantly surprised.

Sounds great - nice match with the guitar. Please do report back with how long the strings last.
