"The Exorcism" Original song
Here's a song I wrote and then my growing band and I recorded it. It's kind of patterned after the old scary movies that had slow build ups and tension and then something big happens at the end... Anyways, I appreciate feedback and thanks for listening. The Exorcism I am a whisper I'm the cold on your neck I'm a soul picture Burnt to the world and left I will not hurt you I simply cannot leave the nest except I'll remind you that you too will one day face death I am harmless. You have nothing to fear. I am so harmless staring out from the mirror keep taking half breaths. Reach out and touch my hand. You should have left when you still had the chance. Let us write a note and take responsibility let us tie the rope and leave this world hanging. Thanks for listening!

I checked out another recent thread you did with three songs posted. I like your voice and the way your guitar playing compliments it but I think you need to think about getting something going that is a bit more upbeat in message and presentation. Your avatar is kind of heavy too.
If you are looking to make performing and composing your bread and butter, I'll offer that as an example in the days before iTunes I remember when Sarah McLachlan came out with her first album and one of her songs was getting a lot of air time on the radio. I liked it and bought the CD and then found I could not listen to it because it all had the same kind of theme, tempo, and delivery. I still enjoyed listening to her periodically but I never bought another of her CD's because it was too one dimensional. Jackson Browne sometimes got that way also for me especially in his early albums so I really liked it when he would cut loose with a more upbeat rock tempo and even inject some reggae or something like a bossa nova flavor to some of his music (and it sure didn't hurt when he became a best bud with David Lindley!). That pulled me back to him and I saw him in concert in New Orleans recently where he played a broad range and conveyed he was having a lot of fun on stage. I would offer to use some happy and funny things in your life experience and let that provide fuel to your composing efforts. I think you have a lot of potential so look forward to hearing more from you here.

Creepy tune - I like it! Sort of a Roger Waters feel to it, but even darker. Well crafted!

Thanks for the feedback everyone.. I put it all to good use..I try to be a spongelike as possible when it comes to music...
Sprintbob, I have a few upbeat tunes and loads of covers. I do prefer the slow stuff and the sad stuff though. I know that limits my audience a bit, but I look at guys like John Moreland and Jason Isbell and think about the core of their music.. its sad-deep stuff... and it worked out for them.. maybe it won't for me..maybe it will always just be a hobby.. That said, I know from gigging in bars that my music has a select audience. I just lean on my bluesy/rockish stuff and my covers for those occasions.

I listen to the songs in this section most days. For some reason this one stands out to me. Its very haunting, original, dark. Hope the composer is in a better place than the song takes you to. I return to it each time I come here, is it haunting me now?

Thanks. I'm in a good place. I just wanted to write something from a Steven King perspective.
