Thanks dcn. I'll be using more turquoise on future builds. The colors and textures are wonderful and there is already a tradition of turquoise on guitars.

I just ordered a larger 5"x2" piece which I will try my hand at cutting slabs with:

Very exciting, Mark! And since turquoise colors range across the green-blue spectrum (often with wonderful brown inclusions) they should continue to complement the stunning Paua shell you have access to.

Thanks for commenting! Turquoise has such wonderful variations of textures and colors. I'm like a kid in a candy store!

Default Ain't She Sweet?

Now isn't this a pretty set of Padauk?

It was sold to me as Padauk Bariolé which is French for rainbow or multi colored. That sounds about right.
To me this is one of those sets that to see it is to buy it. I'm sure this one won't have time to accumulate saw dust before it turns into a guitar!

Very cool set of Padauk!

I look forward to seeing you transform it into a guitar one day...

Thanks cigarfan.
I am scheduling a spec build for each of my six models. The Dryad I am working on now is the first. I would like to have these on hand for sale and to have available for shows. I'm pretty sure this set will be on one of those specs.

That is one of the prettiest sets of wood I’ve seen! Does it fall more in the rosewood camp, as far as sound?

Thanks Mike! Padauk would fall between walnut and rosewood in my opinion.
I expect this set will have characteristics very close to the Bacon Figured Padauk that was available for a short period a few years ago. I made two guitars with that. One was a Josie small jumbo that The Bard Rocks here on AGF ordered. The other was a Piña parlor that I made as a spec because I couldn't wait to build with those sets either.

I have a youtube sound sample of the Piña with a pretty clean recording:

Thanks Jeff!

When asked about the characteristics of the Padauk it made me think about how disappointed I was when I couldn't find any more of that bacon figured Padauk. This made me think I should get another Padauk Bariolé set.
I got the supplier to add a smaller set to my order that is shipping tomorrow:

Wow--I like that set even better than the first one!

The veining in the sides is really special as well.

NICE !
.. I wonder why those two are not called Bacon Padauk.. someone must have mixed up the names...
Very curious as to which guitars you will transform them into and to their appearance under finish.
