X3 on the PRS SE Hollowbody II Piezo. Love mine so much that I’ve pretty much put the acoustics down for good.

OP here - I have been keeping my eye out for guitars to try. The PRS is a definite possibility. I keep thinking about the one I played several weeks ago. The bottlenecks in manufacturing seem to be easing up and I'm also seeing more reasonable stuff on the used market.

Maybe don't give up on the tele just yet, quite a lot of jazz players use them

As you are a Tele player, do not overlook a Fender AV thinline Teleacaster

Rare "thin Skin" version

6.1 lbs, thin nitrocellulose finish. As a long time 335 player and owner, this is a far more comfortable guitar.

Good to know about the dark sound. Thank you!

I like this out of the box idea. Keep 'em coming.

I realize I didn't give a price range, but a Collings or the B&G are a bit more than the budget will allow at this point.

Might consider a Comins GCS1 or 1 ES.

Another vote for the Comins GCS-1ES
https://www.cominsguitars.com/copy-of-gcs-1-bigsby

It’s a lightweight thinline with incredible tone and excellent build quality.
I put flatwound 11s on it and get a bit of a steely Dan vibe with my blues jr amp.
Also can get some mellow, warm jazz tones by using a jazz pick with the neck pickup and tone rolled off.

It’s a semi-hollow and loud enough acoustically to practice quietly without an amp.

I have a Heritage H-535 semi-hollow with '57 Seth Lover pickups. You could also get the hollowbody H-530 (with Lollar pickups). You would get more feedback with a hollowbody.

I own an Epiphone Wildkat. It is a really good sounding guitar with the dog ear P-90s. A fun guitar and a real nice looking piece. A little bit on the dark sounding side, but I like a little darker sound. The neck is a tad chunky for me, but other than that a very nice instrument.
