I'm sitting here spacing out on how innovation happens…it seems to me that the export limitations have caused you, Steve, to have to think of new and innovative ways to decorate an instrument. I think of the wood 'K' inlay (was it Koa or Maple?!)...The use of Purple Heart… It seems that in this case necessity is the mother of invention, huh? And quite a bit of it seems to be headed back to England!

Oh, yes, I don't want to forget the entire marketing department as well as the photography center, BillyD and Timmyscott, for the fine posts they have been making. Those folks just don't get the credit they deserve. Tom Last edited by TomB'sox; 03-06-2015 at 05:02 PM. |

Thanks stringjunky, but no need for anything as deadly as envy.
Bob, do you remember when there was the chromium "shortage"? And how chrome began to disappear from autos? The manufacturers worked around that situation and came up with some very satisfying designs. So much so, that to my eye chrome now looks appropriate only on Harleys. Well, lots of chrome anyway. Challenges can work in our favor. Tom, the reason those folks don't get the credit due is that they are unknown. That's how it is in a big, impersonal corporation. Thanks again, Steve |

Thanks guys. One of the reasons we keep doing this--other than the ridiculous amounts of money we haul in--is the chance to work with materials like this.
It is such a privilege when wood like this passes through our shop, and an honor to work with it. Steve |

Yes, it looks Ok I guess..., sadly, the bear is gone, I can no longer see him so my idea of bear prints for fret markers should probably be scratched.
I wonder what this means for my mental state, I no longer see the images I once did, am I evolving or devolving on this forum....the latter seems more likely, but I think I am in denial. Oh well, enough about me...the back and especially the sides of this guitar are out of this world....what a wood that is. The bearclaw top is pretty much in the amazing category as well. Add to that the silver touches and this guitar is turning into a pretty stellar example of craftsmanship and artistry... Tom |

Thanks again for the kind words.
I'm almost out of construction photos, but we're hopeful the body will return soon from Tony. Let me poke around for the bridge pics. They're here somewhere... |
