Patty Larkin at the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, KS, Jan 2002.
She's got it all - guitar chops, vocals, and songwriting. And a sense of humor.... |

Livingston Taylor--Akron Ohio
What a talented man. 2 hours nonstop-one Taylor custom sho guitar/never needed tuning/always sounded good-and a career's worth of wonderful music. |

The best acoustic show I saw in 2002 was Dave Alvin playing in Bloomington Indiana. Dave is kind of an acquired taste - I don't even like most of his albums - but the ones I do like are great.
He usually tours with his band the Guilty Men but this show was only Dave and his Martin guitar. The music he got out of that single acoustic guitar was amazing - everything from gentle folk to raucous rock. I went to see him because he writes great songs with excellent lyrics but found myself mostly watching the guitar. I learned quite a few things just by watching him play. |
