Default Hurricane Isaias

Well, a few minutes ago, a hurricane warning was issued where I live. Great.

This year has been simply wonderful.

I was kind of interested to see how aggressive they'd be with warnings in a pandemic since some supplies are already short. Nothing appears to be different than other years. Also, Florida being a Covid hotspot will not have complete data for the next few days due to the storm. Another bonus...

Also, I'm not trying to turn this into a Covid thread. I was just pointing something out.

Please remember, Covid is now a banned topic on the AGF as is religion and politics. So yes, please do not turn this thread into anything that it should not be.

Thank you.

That's entirely why I made that comment.

Poor Florida. They can’t catch a break.

Well, 'tis the season. It's expected here in FL. Batten down the hatches and ride it out. Should be ok!

It’s August 1st. According to NOAA it’s been hurricane season for 2 months now.

My wife and I having lived in Florida now for 40 years, and having been directly impacted by hurricanes Elena, Andrew, Frances, Jean and Irma, as well as a half-dozen tropical storms, have come to view August, September and the first two weeks of October as the real hurricane season. While named storms do develop and threaten Florida occasionally in June and July it seems there's always a near constant stream of storms that threaten during the following 3 months. It's consistent with what I observed over the years that Isaias will start affecting Florida's weather later today. For those on the Florida's east coast, hunker down and stay safe.

Right now northeastern SC is under the gun for landfall. FL has certainly had their share as have all the southeastern Atlantic and Gulf states. Been here my entire life and been through countless storms/hurricanes. Never gets any better. You get better at preparing but it's like looking down the barrel of a loaded gun wondering if/when it's gonna go off. One tip...DO NOT watch The Weather Channel. For those of you in FL & GA I hope you fared well. Now it's our turn?

Good luck. Hope it's like it was for Florida? I got barely anything.

I'm in coastal Virginia. For the first time in a long time the hurricane passed inboard of us. This time the water isn't being pushed onshore with the resulting storm surge but instead, we are exposed to extreme gusting and tornado development. There's a fair amount of wind damage to local buildings and homes from gusts and downed trees. I woke up around five AM to the trees banging against the windows in my bedroom. At that point I checked my phone and found that we were under a tornado warning. The tornado warning was just lifted but we still have 50-60mph gusts. The dogs didn't waste any time when I let them out into the wind for their first trip of the morning.

Here in Southeastern PA, expecting 4-6 inches of rain and tropical storm winds. River’s going to be un-rowable (my other sport...lol) for many days.
