Default NGD - Another Dread!

I thought AGF was free to join; completely did not factor in the cost of the resulting GAS...

Anyways, I was actually in the market for a new OM, but happened to stumble across an opportunity to buy a new Bourgeois Generation D at a very substantial discount (hence my question this past week on entry level boutique guitars). I went yesterday to the store to check it out, and really loved the sound, so I decided to give the guitar a new home

In my comparison to my most recent acquisition, a Martin D-35, the Bourgeois Generation D has much less low-end boom (to be expected), but the sound is incredibly well balanced, warm, rich, full, and complex in its own way. Also, the build quality is excellent; the satin finish on the guitar is reminiscent of the Taylor Builder's Edition guitars!

And the family photo

So now I have three dreadnought / dreadnought-like guitars, but I'm sure I'll find a good use for all three! I will say the Taylor 327e with its mahogany top, is great for recording! I think the next step now is to step away from AGF and just play lest the GAS persist; but I think all my itches have satisfied for the forseeable future haha

Another Dreadnought!? I think you're like me in that we can never have enough dreadnoughts! I've played a couple of Bourgeois dreadnoughts at AcousticMusic.org in Guilford, Connecticut, and loved what I heard. Enjoy!

Nice!

There’s certainly nothing wrong with having three dreadnought-sized guitars, and if there is, I don’t want to be right...

I slowly but surely auditioned a lot of Martin-style dreadnoughts over a period of five or six years before settling on my Martin D-18 a couple years ago, but I wish I’d have been able to try one of these Bourgeois Generation guitars. I suspect it would have been at or near the top of my list based on everything I’ve seen and heard.

I love the more minimal appointments on these guitars. It would seem there’s something of a trend with the softer look of the matte/satin finish — you mentioned the Taylor Builder’s Edition models and I’ve seen an increasing number of Collings T series with a satin finish as well. I see it as a feature, not a cost-cutting measure. It looks great.

Congrats and enjoy!
