Default NGD Mcilroy

In my long quest to find a guitar I can actually play I ended up with this beautiful Mcilroy AS26, spruce and walnut. An exquisite guitar that plays easily. I want to share with you a couple photos and draw your attention to how the saddle is placed. Can anyone tell me what string has the three different color ends that are shown here?

D’Addario XS. Others may do, but D’Addario XS for sure.

Interesting on the saddle. Looks like its revered from the normal saddle setup of higher on the low E side. Not sure on the string barrel colors. I saw it a while back. XS sounds right.

Beautiful! There is an AS46 available here on Denver Craigslist, local sales only. I keep drooling over it, but don’t need to spend so much on a guitar. I think the asking price is pretty good, though. Sigh.
Enjoy it!

Can't advise about the strings, but that saddle does look like it's reversed.

You say it plays well though.... action at 12th fret OK then?

Lovely guitar - I have an A30 and A25 and have been thinking about an AS in exactly your wood choices. Enjoy!

Hi Folks, yes the saddle was in reversed. And so tight I had to muscle it out, it had me worried before it came loose. It played very nice with it in backwards but the low E was very low. .70 or so. After reversing the saddle the action is .90 on the low side and .70 on the treble. No buzzing and plays great.

And for those of you with a similar guitar, what strings have you come to favor?

Spruce topped A30 - either D'Addario EJ16 or NB lights. I like to use a 13 on the 1st string though.
Cedar topped A25 - Wyres Pierre Bensusan (these are coated and I use the DADGAD version)

My wife has a L-00 with Sitka over Walnut. I use either the D’Addario EJ26s or the Martin Monel Custom Lights. My wife has small, dainty hands and can’t play with big strings.

Congrats! I have a A20. Fine guitars. I have the XS PB 12-56 on mine right now, but it's due for a string change.

That looks amazing! I've never played a McIlroy, but I'd love to own one some day. I have a lot of respect for those irish guitar builders.

What does this mean? I'm not sure I understand the comment.

Strings Question answered in post #2 - the OP was asking if anyone knew what type of strings are on the guitar, based on the three colours of the ball-ends (visible in one of the pics).

Saddle comment answered in post #6 - the saddle had been reversed in the slot.

Doesn’t anyone read through threads before commenting nowadays?
