I’ve settled on the last acoustic guitar I’ll ever own.

I’ve settled on using a pick. Even though I have zero issues with a boogie woogie walking bass on the piano, for some reason my right thumb won’t do proper, dependable work independent of my fingers.

I have discovered a range of guitars and specs that give me a variety of tone and playability.
Nut widths from 1 and 11/16” to 1 and 3/4”
Scale lengths from 24.75” to 25.4”
Modified low oval neck shapes to a slight soft vee shape
I’ve settled in nicely with stellar examples of both rosewood and mahogany guitars.
German spruce is my is my favorite choice for a top if it is in the hands of the right luthier.
I have found that Sully and Lakota make my go to straps.
GHS, Lowden, Newtones, and Pearse are my go to strings.
Best,
Jayne

Mostly dreadnoughts too with mediums on the vintage style ones and lights on the finger style ones, Blue Chip TAD-3R with rounded bevels. D'Addario, GHS, Martin, John Pearse, and Elixir Strings which ever I find good deals on. I love K&K Pure Mini pickups into my LR Baggs Venue DI.

1.75" nut, at least.

No pick guard.

Cutaway if available.

Wood binding. No plastic/ivoroid ANYWHERE near the guitar. (Although I do have a couple with it)

Modified low oval neck profiles or close to it.

I have pretty much settled on the fact that I am a dread guy, and that getting "pretty close" in a smaller guitar is never going to cut it long term.

I guess I am settled on guitars with a waist and at least a 15' lower bout, 13 frets or more, with a soundport.

For me it is 000 size max, 1.75” nut width minimum, and a cutaway because I do play above the 14th fret. Oh, and carbon fiber for low worry factor and maintenance. It has been several years since I bought a wood instrument and that one was under $500 to try a 12-fret parlor and slotted head stock.

I’ve settled on the fact that my Bourgeois Banjo Killer is my favorite acoustic EVER! I haven’t settled on picks! One day it’s my Blue Chip, the next day it’s the Wegen followed by the next day, it’s the Primetone 1.4 Triangle.

In my late 60's and after over 50 years of playing I have found that I: really only want to play acoustic guitars (rather than electric), prefer small bodies (OOO or smaller), like 1.75" nut width, will only buy guitars with a cutaway, like a C-shape (think standard Taylor carve) neck, will never be a really good player, but don't care anymore, appreciate how carbon fiber acoustics, like my Rainsong, are immune to humidity and temperature, am spoiled by custom hand-built guitars (like my Greven OOO), only use Fred Kelly speed picks, and know the tone that I like.
