Default NGD - Webber OM

Hi all

I am thrilled to be writing this post, having just yesterday received my new (to me) 2009 Webber OM in Sitka / Sapele. I nearly missed out on this guitar for a few reasons - Brian Cox, the seller was keen to keep it for starters ;-) He also had another buyer well into the process before I came along - but it was obviously meant to be. Everything I read and heard about David Webber's guitars led me to believe they would suit my playing style and tone preferences, and additionally these two woods are firm favourites. The transaction was an absolute pleasure from start to finish so thanks very much to Brian.

I was expecting good things, but this has far exceeded my expectations - beautiful balance and great top and bottom end to boot - bass is very nice to my ear and clearer than my Furch OM24.

I recorded a piece I have been working on so you can hear it and see it together and have added a few pictures too.

Hope you like it as much as I do :-)

That's a beautiful piece, played so well on a wonderful sounding guitar. That bass is intoxicating.

Wow. Can't believe how much bass you get out of that. I would have bet it was a rosewood b/s.

Hard to go wrong with one of David's instruments.....trying to talk myself out of one right now too!

I have a Webber 00 that I bought about a month aga. It blows me away every time I play it. I would love to play as well as you do, though. So beautiful.

Real nice music!

Sounds like a Webber I had. Mine was a Englemann / Coco.
Yours sounds similar. Lush, yet bright with clarity.

Thank you for the morning song.

I agree with what the others mentioned; bass response, sublime.

That Gerhard piece took me about 4 or 5 months to figure out then like 15 years to master. Nice selection for such a fine instrument!

Excellent playing and outstanding tone!

Congratulations on your new keeper. I didn't see a microphone so was that direct from the guitar's pickup?

They are pretty special if this is anything to go by, but don’t see many here in the UK (which may be a good thing for me...)

None of Ed’s pieces are ever easy to play well. His tone and feel is very special.

Wow Peter, that guitar sounds so good in your hands! I'm so happy for you.

The bass on that thing is really exceptional, but the trebles are so full and round too. What a great guitar!

Here's to many more postings on the AGF so we can all enjoy your playing.

I think Sapele is a WAY underrated tone wood. Your Webber has a voice that is so much bigger and rounder than I would have expected from an OM. Beautiful guitar and very well played. Thanks for sharing!
