Similar songs to Tears in Heaven
Hey folks,
Im a pretty sucky vocalist, so I like songs where the melody comes out naturally through the guitar playing. Ie. easy and recognizable fingerstyle songs like Tears in Heaven by Eric Clapton. Any recommendations for songs that I should get to a learnin'?! |

After learning Tears in Heaven I started in on Jeff Buckley's version of Hallelujah. Really nice and satisfying song to play and sing, and easier than it first appears.
I learned it from this tab and the JB track. http://tabs.ultimate-guitar.com/j/je...elujah_tab.htm (the JB version is lower down on the page - I capo at 1 instead of 5 since it suits my range better). The tab isn't perfect, but gives you a good guide to the chords, and once you have the chords down you can just develop your own patterns through them. JD

Two Don McLean songs, "Vincent" and "And I Love You So", are songs where the guitar part contains the melody for the main verses; not so much in the chorus.

"Norwegian Wood" by the Beatles.

Off the top of my head:
Clapton: Change the World Beatles: +1 on Norweigian Wood, and also Here Comes the Sun and Blackbird Pachelbel Canon in D: Seriously, you can strip it down to basic chords and a couple of note fills and sounds great! Edward |
