Default DIY ball ends?

Anyone ever try improvising ball end strings by tying a knot?

Was just thinking of trying this. Maybe even use some tiny plastic/vinyl washers?

I have a pin-bridge on my Cordoba mini and so it requires tying knots.

So here is what I do:
1. Tie a simple knot. If it is the top string, tie a couple of knots on top of each other.
2. Get a 'ball' from steel strings and put it on top of the knot.
3. Install the string.

If you want a 'ball' for a traditional tie bridge (not a pin bridge), then buy the Rosette Diamond beads.

Default figure 8 tie

Soloette guitars require knots to be tied, and they have a guide here for what they recommend:

I would second the diamond beads!

I tie glass beads onto the ends of strings - I have a classical parlor guitar that uses bridge pins.

does anyone make a ball end for nylon strings?i don't know why you have to tie a knot when it would be so much easier to use a ballend like steel strings. PS i don't own a nylon string guitar yet.

Definitely they are out there, D'addario for example makes them: https://www.stringsbymail.com/classi...-ball-end-112/

I find tying nylon strings almost like meditation. It gets me in touch with the guitar and it's relaxing.

Michaels craft stores have tiny aluminum crimp beads in small packages of 125 pcs for $3.19. They worked perfectly when re stringing my Cordoba Mini, and Cordoba tenor ukulele, and have no problem slipping thru the holes in the bridge.
