Short answer: yes. Longer answer: Provided that inputs are good (mics, guitars, etc.), you should get a very professional sounding recording. Tascam has many years of experience in the porta-studio/home recording business, so they know what they are doing and build a good quality unit. I bought a Boss BR864 recorder before I discovered that Tascam had a similar priced model. I would have preferred the Tascam based on my past experience with their 4 track units, but I have no regrets for buying the Boss...it too is capable of producing very good recordings. Having an all-in-one unit has a lot of benefits over tying up your home computer for recording. It is easy to use, can easily be moved to different locations, and is much quieter than a computer.
