partial capo chords
I'm a huge fan of Shane Barnard, and he plays a lot of songs with a partial capo, that is, a capo covering the ADG strings placed on the 2nd fret. Anyway, does anyone have a list of chords that can be played with a partial capo?

Why not try to experiment and come up with your own chords? Then is nothing more exciting I think that retuning a guitar or slapping a partial capo on and just trying some bog standard shapes and see what new sounds they give you.

That's what I've been doing, but I'd like to know what chords I'm actually playing. I know very little chord theory, so it would be nice to write down what chords I'm playing. I have some songs I play with partial capo, and I have no idea how to write down what I'm playing.

Try out this virtual guitar chord neck at: http://www.sheffield.k12.oh.us/band/chord.html You can specify any tuning you want (even your own custom tunings), and click on a chord (for instance, "E"), and it shows you what positions make that chord. It helps to restrict the scope to about the 4th fret, otherwise you get too many posiitons on the neck. Play around with it. For instance, click on "E" for standard tuning, then switch to other common tuning is the list, and it shows you the new finger positions neede to make that chord.

..hmmm..now I'm not so sure this helps you with partial capo chords...oh, well, it's a cool tool for alternate tunings.

with a partial capo you are in standard tuning already. Play the same chords you normally play.

hey guy,
here goes a small list that I'll do for ya, well mostly all the chords for that partial tuning. E: 022400 A: 542200 B: 024420 C#m7: 046600 F#m7: 244200 (Played over the partial) D: 054200 or 054210 That's about it. If you want to do another key, just slap on a capo. Capo on 1, and you'll play in F, capo on 3rd, partial on 5th, you'll play in G. Thanks Randall. I've been on that forum for quite a while. And I have that chord chart already from mephibosheth.prodigalme.com, but I was looking for a little more. It's frustrating knowing what you want to play but not knowing how to play it. Oh well, the search continues. Thanks for your help.
