Hey Zac, a big thumbs up from me too....love the rosette design and What a wonderful piece of ziricote...can't wait for more pictures and seeing this fully completed...I agree that it's pretty hard to compete with Mother Nature when she throws such nice colourful woods at us...I guess a sympathetic luthier just enhances what's already there and looking at the work you've done previously this is going to turn out great.
The very best
Scott

Thank you so much Scott! Yes... hard to compete with Mother Nature so why not just work with her right?
I feel very fortunate to work with amazing woods everyday - couldn't imagine doing anything else.
Cheers,
-Zach

Beautiful rosette Zach.
Does the color change after being oxidized?

Default TreeHouse Guitar Ziricote OM build thread

Closing the box!
That dreadful moment when you hide all that beautiful work you put into the inside of the guitar...

Your top bracing is very different with the wider/lower profile braces. Can you share your thoughts with this?

Hey Tom! Yes, the flatter support braces - they are actually being used by more and more luthiers. It's the way I learned and from what I can tell it adds a bit more flexibility in that area of the top between the X-brace and the frame. The rigidity of a tall brace isn't really necessary in that area so it only makes sense. The way my bridge is shaped the ends of it follow the X-brace pretty closely and don't have any corners cantilevering over the X-brace however I still favour the positioning of those flat braces to support the area just across the X-brace from the ends of the bridge... hope that makes sense, if not I can clarify, but that is my understanding of it and why it works.
