Neither can I. The streaking makes it unique and gives it character.

I saw a Gibson with a walnut fingerboard and it looked very nice (why don't companies simply use other woods like that instead of Richlite???).

Yes, it's a nationwide chain of music stores in Canada called Long & McQuade.

In the Vancouver, British Columbia area Long & McQuade faces robust competition from the Tom Lee Music stores, but elsewhere in the country they seem to dominate the local music retail scene. I'm not aware of any other national chain in Canada, though of course I'd love to learn about them if they exist.

There's at least one great local music store in Toronto called The Twelfth Fret, and presumably there are some other good stores elsewhere in Canada, too, I'm just not traveled enough to know about them.

Some people don't like a streaky fingerboard. When I got my hummingbird my friend was very 'yuck' about the very stripey rosewood. Not me - personally i LOVE a nice streaky piece of rosewood and much prefer it over a uniform chocolate brown one. My Taylor has a big streak across the ebony bridge and I love that too. Bob Taylor made a whole thing of purchasing streaky ebony and using it on their entire range, not just the low-end models like mine when he found out that they were cutting down mature ebony trees then just leaving them to rot if they weren't uniform black all through.

That is sweet looking guitar. I've played some songwriters that were great. And I'm a huge Gibson fan, so I'm really happy for you.

As for why it sat so long, I think a lot of people are afraid to spend big bucks on a Gibson guitar that isn't one of the more widely known classics (J200, J45, Hummingbird, etc). Their loss!
