I'm selling a beautiful sounding, and looking, solid mahogany and spruce wood guitar. I'm the original owner. It is in near perfect condition with a few slight scuff marks. It is a seriously nice home/stage/recording guitar with a very nice pickup. It comes with the original Takamine guitar case. Retail was $2,500.00, street price was $1,700.00. I'm asking $950. Are there volume knobs etc.. / control panel for the electronics?
Where is the battery? |

Takamine
TLD line driver, unlike the cool tube system, has no controls and no battery. It is a passive undersaddle pick up.

TLD Line Driver
The pick-up is active and has a 9 volt battery. No barn door and/or controls onboard.
Here are two links to YouTube videos with Brad Davis (he helped design the guitar) where you can hear it with and without the pickup: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBtj9xmRpwM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmyIBRTJQOg Description from Takamine: The Takamine Line Driver (TLD) is the most elementary form of electronics you could want for your acoustic guitar. Discreetly unobtrusive, it sits unseen inside your guitar with minimal wiring and no need for cutting or drilling high-value tonewoods, buffering the pickup’s active signal and sending it clean and noise-free to your amplification setup. No onboard volume or tone controls necessary—the TLD is “pre-EQ’d” with mild bass and treble boost and a midfrequency cut, resulting in natural amplified tone perfect for purists. |

I bought one of these from a guy a few weeks ago. I put a set of Martin Retro's on it and really like the sound of it. It sounded good with the Elixyr's too but these retros are nicer in my opinion. Great sounding guitar unplugged and amazing plugged in. I've been running mine through a redeye pre amp. I've got a nice taylor that I don't play that often anymore. I'm actually thinking about selling it and just keeping this one because I like it so much.

Yeah I'm fortunate to be 6'5 so a dread body isn't such a big deal to me. I like smaller guitars but I've got like a 7' wingspan so some feel kinda awkward. The wider nut takes a little getting accustomed to but then again I have really long fingers so it isn't such a big deal for me.

I've really been interested in these guitars but I'm concerned I won't like the wide nut. My fingers are on the short side for a 6' tall dude.

The Tak neck has a larger radius but is very comfortable to me and the 1 3/4 nut width is nice for fingerstyle. The guitar strums beautifully, as well. I now play a Martin 000-15sm which has a much smaller neck radius but still 1 3/4 at the nut. I love the feel of both guitars even though the are very different. It's really personal preference and what feels within your comfort zone. Cheers!

I was playing guitar for a friend of mine and we where lucky enough to be on the same bill as Brad Davis a few years ago. He's a super nice guy and great player. I got to play his tak, same model as this one. Super nice guitars.
