Default She moved through the fair ( Irish Trad )

Hello
Traditional Irish song taken up by many artists around the world like Fairport Convention, Loreena McKennitt or the excellent Sinead O'Connor .......
The narrator is a young man whose fiancée is dead. The last time he saw her alive, she promised him their wedding day would come soon before she walked away. In the last verse, she comes back to him in the form of a ghost and repeats her promise to him ....
DADGAD Fingerstyle
O1F guitar jean-marie Fouilleul

Fine expression of that tune. Thanks.

As a person who's current project is largely incorporating other folk's poetry with original music (and as a lyric writer myself) I have to note to others who know the lyrics as "traditional" is that the version of She Moves Through the Fair best known in recordings is by Padraic Colum first published early in the 20th century. The tune of course, which is what you played, is a much older Celtic strain.

That's not a knock against what you wrote. Just want lyric writers to get their due!

Nice one Remy!

I've never heard that tune before, I'll have to look into it.

Very nice Rémy. I appreciate being exposed to these Irish songs, and even more so hearing them on guitar. Thanks.

Ok that is really nice ,I especially like the slow pacing so that all the ornamentation is heard and becomes an integral part of the piece ,I’m new to dadgad but now I will use this as a mentor...thanks .

I really enjoyed that Remy - the melody is so insistent despite being so pure - it really captures the traditional ballad spirit.
