Default Orangutan and Otters

This is a good story now:

https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/30/europ...ntl/index.html

"A zoo in Belgium has shared some amazing photos of a blossoming friendship between a family of orangutans and their otter neighbors.

The animals live together at Pairi Daiza zoo in Domaine du Cambron, as part of a program designed to maintain the primates' wellbeing in captivity."

Thank you. I needed this post. Great pictures too. The expressions on that face are so almost-human.

You're welcome. Yes they do. Orangutans are my favorite great ape. They seem very smart and they're pretty laid back too.

Great to see this feel good threads these days. Thanks Rob.

I find that orangutan faces are both one of the most beautiful and frightening faces in the animal kingdom.

You're welcome Dru. Yeah, they look a little frightening sometimes, but they are gentle giants.

Yes, thanks for these pics.

Some time ago I arranged for my wife to spend a day at a Zoo working with elephants, while I wandered around the place by myself.

One of the most moving moments in my life was sitting watching the large and well populated Gorilla enclosure.

I must have sat for nearly an hour looking into the eyes of one individual, and whoever thinks that great apes are "just animals" are missing something.

Very vey cool my wife and I are both total Critter People
And living where we do gives us continual opportunity to enjoy our animal friends .

This little guy (Pine Martin) started showing up about 3 weeks ago at our daily bird and squirrel feedings. He discovered my wife's homemade bread and now has become fairly habituated to her. This shot is from about 3 ft away , he was on the deck then hopped up on the table

Yes I have been lazy and have not taken down the X-mas lights

.

Wow, that little guy is cute! But how do the birds and squirrels feel about it?
