Default Solo Artist Pickup System?

Is there anywhere close to a general consensus on the best pick up system to capture the most authentic sound of your acoustic?

Specifically for somebody that is a solo guitar player & singer performing in bars and restaurants.

I was thinking the K&K mini with a pre-amp pedal. I'm not sure I want to install the soundhole preamp/volume/whatever thing I've seen. I don't hate the idea, just feel like it may take away from the "naturalness" of the guitar...

Do people combine other pickup components to achieve the best sound?

Any suggestions on preamps if that's the route people tend to go?

Don't know much about this...

You should repost this on s ''Acoustic Amplification'' page, but I think you are on the right track.

I just removed the Fishman Sonotone system from my Martin Road Series and installed a JJB, it's like a generic K&K. Into my Loudbox Mini it sounds glorious. Using the guitar tone control and the Loubox controls, I could get the original pickup to sound OK, but this is like a whole new level.

Some people prefer te Schatten HFN for sound and ease of installation, but I'm very happy with the JJB

They will be able to give you more help on the AA page. Good luck!

My choice for solo performers is a good mic.
No pick up will sound as natural.

If you do go with a pick up K and K gets a lot of love as long as you add a pre amp.

K&K with the Tonedexter pre-amp is a solid combo for getting the best natural tone from an acoustic in lieu of a good mic.
