Want to have some fun?

Play your walk-ups on the up beat instead of the down beat...

You walk up the scale so from going to G to C you walk up G A B C using root notes or you can walk up using thirds and root notes going (G-B) (A-C) (B-D) (C-E) Where you hit both the root and third of chord for that key. Since B and A have a minor third in keys of G and C the third for that run would use minor thirds for B and A a opposed to the majors. You can also walk down so from C to G you would go C B A G you can also walk down in thirds as well C-E B-D A-C G-B. If you know the scale These work for any I to IV or IV back down to I and for any I down to V chord or V up to I.

Another vote for Flatpicking Essentials

I attended a workshop in September, the instructor said to experiment .. try your own runs, make up runs, stay in the scale, leave the scale .. etc..

I really appreciate all the information posted. I just wonder why is it so hard to get someone to post a single tab. I for one learn more from one example like a tab then I would from reading an entire book.

Lots of things worse than the F chord. Besides the walk-ups and walk-downs, you got turnarounds, riffs, melody line scales, etc.

Here is one of mine going into the C chord:

Another vote for Flatpicking Essentials and the ezfolk link above has some tabbed out.
Initially I would forget to start the run before the chord change..

Personally, I don't like to run between chords. I prefer to walk. It's much more polite, and I'm not in that much of a hurry, anyway.
