Default Q: Source QS English/European walnut

Hi!

I'm putting together parts for my first own build. The model I have in mind is an European spruce/European Walnut small jumbo. The choice of woods are based on tone, the trees being local to me, and walnut being a fairly straightforward wood for a first guitar.

Does anyone on this forum know of a good European supplier of quartersawn European walnut? I have searched the internet for a sets but have only found quite figured versions. It would of course be convenient if the same supplier has good alpine spruce also but that isn't a requirement.

Thanks!

Jonas

Are you living in Europe?

If so, i can recommand you "Espen" in Germany, near Frankfurt.
They have a webshop but you can also write your wishes to them.
You will get Walnut and Spruce there.

A local luthier here in France gets European spruce from bois-de-resonance.com, split available. I know he also uses France Noyer SAS (= France Walnut) for supplies. Good luck with your build.

In the U.K there's Andy @ Primetimber - http://www.primetimber.co.uk/.

I've used him on several occasions and its always been a pleasure. He seems to be specializing in Walnut these days. The website isn't updated much but I did see him listing Q/S English Walnut on ebay recently.

Jonas,
I know Rudi Bachmann in South Tyrol has juglans regia back and sides sets. He is mainly a supplier of spruce, but also has a variety of other tonewoods, and makes his own guitars from european walnut too. His website is under construction at the momemt, but just google bachmann tonewood and You will get a lot of information
If it can be black walnut, Lmii has wonderful sets, I bought one recently and I'm happy with it
Hejdo
