I saw that too, as I am going to get a new 1-11/16" nut D1AT so I have been on Collings' website just learning more of the company, and the guitar looks neat, and I am sure it will sell, but at this juncture I cannot find any info on it being ready for sale/order yet. Best wishes to Collings

I wouldn't say no to a 000 looking like that. The ivoroid and colour scheme is perfectly matched. Super

Oh no. I had no idea he had died. Seemed like a real down-to-earth sort of guy in the videos I've watched.

How many luthiers out there don't play guitar.?? Not many I'm guessing.

Bill died on my birthday, fwiw.

All the best to Collings Guitars. I'm sure the shop was left in good hands.

That tribute guitar already looks like it belongs in a museum. Beautiful.

Going by that picture I think I like the look with a soundhole more than the traditional/common archtop f holes.
Simply beautiful.

As it happens, the Cremona brown color of the top, which was a standard option offered by Gibson in the early part of the 20th Century, is what I had my most recent custom guitar finished in. A local Anchorage luthier, Bob Clark, built a 12 fret Triple O with koa back and sides, and hand-rubbed the top to the same color as this very cool archtop.

I'm a sucker for those old hand-rubbed Gibson finishes, from the days before spray guns and airbrushing were invented.

Gorgeous guitar, but I would never buy an archtop. They sound, even in the best hands, acoustically plinky-plonky and thin to me. And unless the bridge is pinned (like on some Gretsch models) it’s going to shift on you. High maintenance, they are.

Now I know what to ask for. It's a really classic look.

They are mainly jazz tools, aren't they, where the last thing you want is sustain to blur the fast note runs.

Beautiful instrument but definitely not an “all purpose” guitar.

Collings is being run by the same folks who were running it when Bill was there. Steve McCreary is still the GM.
