Default How many like their plugged in sound better?

I find that I would rather practice with my acoustic guitar and voice going into my acoustic amp. I am sure that a major part is that this gives me my voice and guitar mixed coming back at me. But I really like the electric sound better than just playing acoustically. Its bigger, I can shape it, part of the fun, and is really how most people will hear me.

For me, being plugged in means using an external mic. There’s certain rooms in town where I get off on the guitar just being loud and lively, but nothing comes close to my living room with fairly high ceilings and hardwood floors

I really like the sound of my guitar unplugged. My voice, however, sounds much better amplified with reverb and other effects.

I play unplugged most of the time, but I like plugging in for fun and testing new sounds but mostly because I also play an electic and like to play L O U D.

While I certainly prefer to hear my voice amplified and reverb enhanced, even playing my guitar through a high-end stereo system is disappointing as compared to hearing it unplugged.

At this point, I am happier with my "plugged in" sound than I have ever been (see my other posts in this section about that). But to me, an acoustic guitar is just that (others may feel differently about this), and for me it sounds best without the clutter - just the acoustic guitar itself and the sound it can produce. I often wonder what people did with ANY type of performance before the days of amplification. It seems these days we have all manner of amplification, and it just keeps getting louder all the time.

I wouldn't say I like the tone more, but the extra volume is nice.

Which is why sometimes when I want to play and sing, I like doing it amplified just so I hear my sound coming right back at me.

Nothing sounds like an acoustic guitar in a good room...........

I now mike first when I have to amplify, and if necessary use my OMC-Aura, but "au natural" is unbeatable, acoustics are called acoustics for a reason.

With you.

But can you plug in to that Lava Lamp?

I like my plugged in sound.

I like my unplugged sound.

I like my recorded sound.

Each is different.

For writing or sitting around with friends I love the un-plugged sound. When I'm preparing to play out I always practice through my system (soloamp) because the technique changes slightly on both the guitar and vocal. Also, I need to re-acclimate my ears to hear the sound coming from an outside source.

No preference. Only have a pickup in one guitar and had it installed only recently. When I tested through my small koa MTN amp, I couldn't tell if I was hearing guitar or amp. Played louder and softer and twiddled with the volume knob and realized there was no difference in the sound except the volume.

I do have some fun playing through an effects box now & then. I have an old Digitech RP 80 & my 12 string acoustic makes some interesting but nice sounds on some of the cleaner channels. Otherwise, I just like the extra volume I get plugged in.
