Default Mogami Silent Switch problem Silly Me!

I came home with my brand new Mogami 12ft. cable with the "Silent Switch" feature not "silent" at all when I unplugged guitar. Plugging IN was beautiful! Quiet as a church mouse! I was all set to give Mogami a call for advice when it stuck me. I have a Strymon reverb pedal in line.

The reverb pedal is set with a pretty "long tail" When I engage the reverb pedals "Bypass" I can now hot plug/unplug till the cows come home. Blissful silence!

I don't want to be rude to the audience, even if it's just me!

I watch a lot of rig rundowns and there are numerous professional touring artists who use the silent switch plug. I don't believe they are using the Mogami cables, just the plug. Most guitar techs just make their own cables. I have been tempted to make my own but I might look into the Mogami ones. I assume they are fairly expensive though. I also wonder if they offer right angled versions?

I own a couple of the Planet Waves cables with the on/off switch and they have been great. I was afraid that they would die quickly but I have had them for about five years now and they still work great.

Default I tell ya ...

I like Mogami producis. To me, they sound great. Built great (tough, not too fat, not too thin. Coil nicely. Dirt resistant (rubber) The plugs are 'black" which is a less obtrusive look. Lifetime warranty. I have no burning desire to build my own. I would rather focus on improving my "ear"

Yes, they are pricey. And worth every penny. I don't like to fuss with such a small $ amount compared to the rest of the instrument.

Really, good cables are kind of like tires on cars to me. Just get really decent ones!

+1 Mogami products. I feel these are the standard of high-grade cabling in that you can easily buy lesser-grade stuff for less and maybe buy higher-grade stuff for more but Mogami offers excellent cabling at reasonably-high prices and its products can be replaced if they fail, nationwide, in any Guitar Center.
